Why is it that if you molest a child you go to prison for many years where big people with names like Bubba (even the women) rape you up the ass with a guard for many years, BUT IF THAT CHILD IS YOUR OWN CHILD all they do is take it away?!?!?!!? AND YOU CAN GET THE CHILDREN BACK AFTER A FEW WEEKS OR MONTHS???

WHAT THE FUCK!?!?!!

So it's okay to rape children you are related to? It's only okay if it's incest??? Is that the message? That if a child molester would like to get away with it, all they have to do is have children, or marry someone who has??

This pisses me off so much I can't even utter words about how pissed off I am.

Sadly, I would guess it has to do with the number of false abuse reports filed by children and their shrinks in the 1980s; the whole "repressed memories" thing. It seems to have had a lasting effect of making officials more suspicious of reports of incest/sexual abuse in family settings, thinking that it could simply be a child trying to control the parents, or take revenge. The same dynamic doesn't exist in stranger rape cases.

I'm not sure if courts ever were very willing to permanently take kids from parents. I should ask a former "child snatcher" I know who used to work in L.A. -- he had some stories that curled my hair.

I think it's because people are still seen as property, because of the nature of capitalism. And children are seen as the property of their parents. It may sound over-simplified and abhorrent, and yes, I think it's abhorrent, but there it is. Our society still sees kids as commodities, along with the rest of us, on a certain level. I'm not saying that this is what all of us believe, or that it's widely believed consciously, but it's built into the system and it comes out in legal decisions.

Or castrated and made to to do hard community labor for the rest of their lives. It's just too big a risk to take to allow them to walk among us. The damage is too deep, too lasting.

And I'm not speaking from a purely emotional place here. It's just the practical, right thing to do, to get rid of them. They either are unable to lear that what they are doing is terribly wrong, or they know it and don't care. Either is unacceptable.

Castration (while an interesting image) does not fix the part of the predator that makes them do what they do. All it does is alter the tool of their trade. As anyone who has studied sex offenders and serial killers can attest to, it wasn't their genitalia that was the issue.

Personally I'd happily see child molesters, rapists, drug dealers, and gang members dangling from a gallows over a pit of rabid badgers. But I'm sadistic like that.

True there were many false accusations made(which sadly continue into the present day). But I have always been puzzled by a country that permits the death penalty, but confines its use to the point where it is ineffective for its true purpose.

And no I don't mean as a deterrant.

Rather as a means of expeditiously eradicating unwanted elements from our society.

Regardless of one's political affilation or religious beliefs, I would think that child molesting would hit the "A list" of capital offenses. I wonder why no one has thought of making it so.

Or if they have, why it did not come to fruition.

the reason it did not become a capital offense is pretty easy - there's no money it it, either direction.

It also goes back to the "property" mentality that exists where family is concerned.

The idea that wives and kids are chattel..hmm. Here in the UK, rape within marriage was seen as socially and legally acceptable till around the 70s (before my time, thank fuck!). In any case parents who rape their kids should get harsher treatment than strangers - both are repugnant but the case of incestuous rape even more so, as the child is supposed to trust the parent/guardian to protect them from such abuses.....

BTW, since I keep coming back here, do you mind if I add you to my list? It'd be easier to keep track - you've got a lot to say....
