I have never been a big believer in scales. So to measure my weight loss I am using a measuring tape. Ultimately my goal is to be smaller and healthier, so what I actually *weigh* is of very little consequence to me really. All in all that is probably a good thing as the scale I own is woefully inaccurate. I last measured myself for my corset. (mid July).

so last night I had that urge to measure again.

And, since Mid July, I have lost:
one inch from my bust
one and a half inches from my waist
and two and a half inches from my hips.

so I am fairly pleased. :)

Yeah!! Congratulations, Staxxy!
I think you are absolutely right in skipping the whole scale thing. Scales are sort of a bizarre concept really - and generally foolish, if you ask me.

oh indeed. scales at home are moderatly accurate at best, for a scale that is more accurate you pay a few hundred dollars, and still they are not true.

I feel like I have lost weight. I feel thinner. And of course, the fact that my clothes are not fitting well anymore is also a clue...

That's a good way to do it.

Muscle weighs more than fat. So you could be building muscle and actually gaining weight while losing inches.

Yay you!

Congrats, and good going!
I also concur the best way to track it is by measurement rather than scales. yay yay!

Autumn War should be interesting.

There are 2 Korsairs that read my livejournal. So they will be prepared for me having lost weight, but the rest do not...

I could definitely tell when I saw you on Saturday!

I'm really looking forward to Autumn War.

Trying desperately (still) to come up with my personna... ugh.

Good idea on not bothering with a scale. When I was in the amry I had a constant fight with the doctors concerning weight vrs body fat content. When I was in my best shape I was 30 pounds over weight (according to the military standard) but I was at 15% body fat content...pushing an unhealthy BFC low for a female. The only time I ever weight what I was "supposed" to weigh was when I ran into a speeding fist and went on the wired jaw diet for 8 weeks. All I'll say is that I make a horrible anorexic and I will never even think about attempting to reach my highschool weight again.

the anorexic look doesn't really look good on *anyone*. Bleh.

I am glad that you are a bit more "filled out" these days... makes you all... SOFT... mmmmm

Yes, I need help. I'm way too indecisive. I sometimes forget that not all decisions are life-important or unchangeable/redirectable.

my persona evolved a few times. I had the basic idea (which is as complicated and involved as my own life) and then I met other people in the SCA who worked into the person line.

In the beginning I had a brother that I lost (just part of the story, not a real person), absent father, dead mother. thru much long tedious blah blah blah, I ended up on the coast of Japan...( will tell you IRL sometime)...

In my original Persona history I was picked up by sailors of some kind and rescued...

real mudane time passes... I meet Kayo Blackmoore, who claims me as his long lost half sister (thru Robert blackmoore, missing father...).. ta da... now I have a last name, and a family/household, and a slightly more filled out persona story...

more time passes... I meet Ross Newcomb... we found the Korsairs with Spencer Smith... and Ross becomes the Pirate that picked me up on the shore. ... ta da... more persona filled out...

yet more time passes... I meet Greg Mitchell... His persona history is almost identical to mine in the beginning.. eerily so.. so he is the older brother lost at the beginning of the persona history... the one I didn't actually have a real *person* for... and thus my persona is filled out even more...

talk about evolution.

I wrote my persona to match my clothes. Really. The persona evolved to explain some of the odder fashions.

We will sit down soon and work yours out sweetie

Remember, I'm not as soft as I was at the last photoshoot...I dropped 30 pounds of water in the 2 weeks after JT was born. Now, between breastfeeding and exercise, I'm loosing inches still.

Right at the moment, I'm just trying to come up with a name for registration... the life-story can wait.

well we have to start with time and region before you come up with a good name. Next we can look at books of names to find some that are appropriate. It is important to remember the "don'ts" of names for SCA.

Don't give yourself a name from Literature *ever*. This is frowned on more than *anything* in Society.

Don't give yourself a name that sounds like your friends name. Too much confusion.

those are the two biggest ones I think.

The other thing to consider is names that you like, and sounds that you like or want to include in your Persona name. What will you *answer* to when called? I answer to my SCA name, but almost no one calls me by it at events. *sigh* My Society name is Kerianna Blackmoore. well ok technically it is Captain A. Kerianna Blackmoore or just Captain Blackmoore (which is the closest I get). I will answer to Captain too.

Egad.. that does remind me... I have to get some things ready for the next event soon. I have some gifts to give at the next big Korsair meeting.. gotta get them ready. eek.

call me next week and we can work it out babe.

they call it the Society for Creative Anachronism

or any number of substitutions and permutations applicable to the letters SCA.

It is not as scary as it sounds. It just takes some real honest *thought*. Especially if you are looking to *register* your name. Registration will take documentation on the name being historically accurate to whatever time period you are claiming. It should all be on the website.

Just remember that you do not *have* to choose a name right *now*. If you are choosing to register a name, make sure it is the *right* name for you first.
