Making a real difference
Dec. 18th, 2003 05:52 pmwell, now that we have successfully screwed with the heads of the AFA on their biased poll, lets make a *real* difference and do something that *REALLY* counts.
Lets email our Senators and Congressmen.
Find your Senator HERE
Find your Congressmen HERE
these links will take you to pages that will take less than a minute to find the person *YOU* should write for (because you are in their voting district) and have you set up in their contact form or email (depending on the person) to leave them a message directly.
I will take less than 5 minutes, and you really *WILL* be making a difference. Every vote counts in a poll, but every voter counts all the time - ESPECIALLY during election years.
I did most of the hard part by finding these sites, from here it is very easy for all of you to make a huge difference in the lives of many people we care about, including ourselves.

my letter to Jay Insley (my rep) -

Laws
Date: 2003-12-19 08:22 am (UTC)History:
This summer I went to a Ren fair, at this Ren Fair I saw a close friend and her children. She gave up an apartment and school to live with a 20 year old and party for August. I was needless to say disappointed but there isn't a thing I can do about it. At this Ren Fair her 12 year old was smashed on his ass, drunk as a skunk. I was overwhelmed and sad for this child. I called CPS after painstakingly thinking about the outcome. I did talk to his mom first and she just threw her hands up and said "what’s a mom to do". CPS told me there wasn't any money in the budget and they couldn't do anything about this issue.
I was sad, very, very sad.
I talked about this with every one, wishing I could come up with a plan. Finally a friend of mine told me he use to help write laws for Black Vets (he’s a black man). He told me I could write a law and ask the state to look at it. We are still working on this. It is a hell of a lot harder then he made it sound but we are doing it.
When I'm done... Issues like this that are important, I'd like to tackle. I've written to senators and such but I find they are going to vote depending on several areas; election season, charity campaign funding and corporate influence. It is frustrating to sit by and watch what is going on and no one really care or do anything about it. I don’t know what political affiliation I really am I just believe in rights and responsibilities of the people, by the people and for the people.
Would you like to help?

Date: 2003-12-19 08:27 am (UTC)Ok tell me this, if you could make a law about this what would you want it to be?
Re: Laws
Date: 2003-12-19 08:29 am (UTC)If I were to make a law about it I would add to the amendment that says that women and minorities get treated equally and say that homosexuals do too. *shrug*.
I find it appalling that there should be an extra law about it.
