ok, so I really do not know how i feel about this. Somehow a company I did not send my resume to got my number and called me in for an interview.

I looked the company up online and most of the information on their site was nonfactual or factual about the people *in* the company but not the business itself. Lots of bio on the man that founded it.

It looks like a cold call marketing type deal, almost a pyramid scheme.

I have a really greasy feeling about it.
this is their website. http://www.altig.com/

any suggestions?

Here's their parent company's annual report: http://sec.thomsonfn.com/sec/SecProd?pid=MzgwYlhOdVAkWQEQUALSTOEQUALSTO&transform=result&type=results&doc_type=10-K&doc_dcn=02581866&cont_format=PDF&cont_qualifier=C&doc_des=E&viewer=Y

Appears they sell insurance of some type. It may be they are looking for agents and not employees. In other words, you pay them a fee and get to set yourself up as one of their agents. Not sure though.

you rule. did I mention?

Thanks!!!

I am going to call them in the morning. They never bothered to tell me what position they are "considering me for" either. I assumed it was something I had applied for and would therefore be an Assitant position of some type. But when I checked my application records their company is no where to be found.

Eeeeewwwwww! They look like the AMWAY of life insurance. I suddenly find myself wanting to scrub my eyeballs.

OK, I didn't bother to even go through most of their website, but here is my take:

They sell supplemental life insurance. Most likely they will charge you to provide you with leads, and then give you a commission from any sales you manage to generate from those leads. This doesn't look like a MLM scheme to me, but simply a cold call operation. Volume baby, volume.

Since you don't have any record of contacting these folks, I would simply ignore it and move on. If you reply, they will simply keep after you.

no honey, they called me on the phone today and made an appointment for an interview tomorrow.

I have to call them and verify it is commission and sales type work (ie, NOT AT ALL WHAT I DO) or it will be all fucked on my unemployment. Besides, I want to know how they got my name in the first place.

Eek eek eek!

Maybe it would be worth finding out what they're looking for, but I wouldn't expect the results to be too encouraging. That "cold call" operation sounds like it might be the case, and that would just be icky. You know you can do better!

yeah. And anything that they have listed on their site does not suit the work I do.

so I will call them tomorrow and find out exactly what it is they think they are interviewing me for.

I am annoyed and not interested in wasting the 5 hours it would take all together, (hour interview, and 2 hours each way on the bus.)
