So, a friend of mine and I just figured out that we have known each other for *11* years in comments in her LJ.

Which leads me to wonder how long I have known the rest of you. I know that some of you go into the way back machine... but, due to my amazingly spotty and dreadful memory for such things, I have no idea *when* we met.

So now I ask you, in this VERY brief poll:

Some of you I *do* know when we met, but mostly those that go back to the super early 90s and late 80s.

Bammbamm (happy birthday mr.) is exempt from this questing as I have known him since 1985. (yes kids, 21 years... our friendship can legally drink)

Edited to add: Also exempt is Johnny Mohawk... whom I met during Channukah of 1986...

that's where I am with you as well. I suspect it was 1990, and I remember that we met at the Underground when we had the same hairstyle. But that was a brief club chat. We did not *really* meet until a few months later.

And it was very much "there one day and always had been" with me for you as well. :)

I think we first *met* (briefly, and in passing at a beach burn) in 2000. And it was late 2003 when we actually started to become friends, but *really* late. It might have been really early 2004. That whole period of time is one enormous blur of Jessica and the order of protection.

Hm, not sure exactly, but odds are good that it was around '90 -- that's about when I started with the con-going, and I know that that was where I first met you, though I don't recall exact circumstances. For the first while, you were one of many people that the folks I was hanging out with always said hello to in the hallways, and it all kind of blurs together... :)

Heh. Too funny, YOU I know exactly how this all happened...

I was living with Shanda in Bummertown and would go for walks during the day pretty often ( I was job hunting and had cabin fever). I found your game store and stood and chatted with you about gaming, the punk scene, and a bunch of other things. (it is possible that Sawyer brought me there the first time, but I think I met him through you... you through him, him through you... one or the other). You and I made fast friends and you came over to visit at our apartment a few times, and then you brough Dave over and he and Shanda hit it off and it just kinda went from there. It was 1993, just after I had my heart attack.

I remember Steve Barta bringing me along to a birthday party for someone I'd never met. He was either my roommate at the time, or a friend, which probably means early 1999. Even though we'd never met before, I felt very comfortable and friendly with you. I'm guessing you felt similarly, as I remember using you as a pillow on the couch. &:)

I guess we 'met' on IRC in '92 or '93, when I first became a #hottub regular....I recall our first meatspace meeting, the location anyway, but can't recall if it was when I was visiting Seattle (Xmas of '97 or '98) before I lived there or if it was right after I first moved there (fall of '99).
Perhaps you can pin it down better given the third party who was present. :)

I didn't finish reading your post when I typed my response to your poll. I believe we met in 1985 as well. That's when I met Dan too. I started going to Juan's/Dad's in 1986, if I remember right.
